Kuwait plans drilling tender

Kuwait is preparing to issue a tender for drilling services in West Kuwait, local media reported on Sunday.

One or more contracts for integrated oil drilling services at 29 Jurassic wells will be tendered out as turnkey projects, daily Al-Anba cited industry sources as saying.

The services will include rig installation and training of Kuwaiti workers, among others.

Kuwait Oil Company is producing 520,000 bopd, with an increase to 540,000 bopd targeted for April 2019 and 550,000 bopd for 2020.

In May, Ahmad Al Eidan, the company’s deputy CEO for West Kuwait, told TOGY, “Kuwait has a lot of potential coming from new oil. There are many Jurassic discoveries in the area of western Kuwait.”

Al Eidan cited asphaltenes production, H2S and declining pressure as the key challenges for drilling in the West Kuwait zone.
