Larsen & Toubro builds green hydrogen plant

MUMBAI, August 22, 2022 – Larsen & Toubro has commissioned a green hydrogen plant at its AM Naik engineering complex in Hazira, India, the indigenous engineering giant announced on Saturday.

The completed first phase of the project consists of a 380-kW alkaline electrolyser and associated solar capacity. The second phase will consist of a 420-kW polymer electrolyte membrane electrolyser powered by a 1.6-MW solar power plant.

 

Green hydrogen produced at the 3,000-square-metre plant will be used at the company’s Hazira manufacturing complex.

Project cost or expected completion date of the second phase were not disclosed.

The Indian engineering company aims to achieve water neutrality by 2035 and carbon neutrality by 2040.
