Lundin spuds Barents, North Sea wells

STOCKHOLM, March 6, 2017 – Sweden’s Lundin Petroleum said on Monday it had spudded two appraisal wells on the Gohta and the Edvard Grieg fields, in the Barents Sea and the North Sea, respectively.
The 7120/1-5 well, some 4 kilometres north of the main discovery well in Gohta, will probe the north-eastern limits of the find and serve as a calibration point for future tests in the Barents Sea, the firm noted in a statement.
The 16/1-27 well some 3 kilometres west of the Edvard Grieg platform will explore additional resources of up to 30 million boe in the North Sea.
The new appraisal wells were drilled by subsidiary Lundin Norway, the company said in its press release.
The news came weeks after Lundin announced a new discovery at the Filicudi prospect in the Barents Sea, as well as plans to spin its non-Norwegian assets off into a separate company.
