
Masdar in $200-million Azerbaijan solar deal
BAKU, April 8, 2021 – Abu Dhabi-based renewable energy giant Masdar has signed a deal worth around USD 200 million to develop a utility-scale solar PV plant in Azerbaijan
The landmark project will install 230 MW at a site located 75 kilometres southwest of the capital, Baku. Commercial operations are expected to begin in early 2023, Masdar said in a statement on Wednesday.
Under the public-private partnership, Masdar will design, finance, build and operate the project.
Last week, the company won approval from the government of Uzbekistan to build a 1.5-GW wind farm that will be Central Asia’s largest wind installation.
