Massive new wind turbine unveiled by Chinese player
China CHENGDU, October 14, 2024 – A record-breaking wind turbine design with 310-metre blades has been unveiled by China’s Dongfang Electric Corp., Bloomberg reported on Sunday.
The new turbine has a capacity of 26 MW, much larger than the previous record-setting design of 18 MW.
The Chinese turbine producer’s design advance comes at a time when wind energy players are looking to deploy larger-scale turbines to reduce costs, generating more power from fewer units, the report said.
The 26-MW turbine is even larger than announced projects that have not yet been constructed.
