McDermott has signed a contract for EPCIC works on Woodside’s Scarborough development in Western Australia, the Houston-based engineering company announced on Monday.

The contract includes EPCIC services for a floating production unit, including design, fabrication, integration, transportation and installation of hull and topsides.

The 30,000-tonne topsides will be constructed at McDermott’s joint venture yard in Qingdao, China.

The remotely operated floating production unit will process 51 mcm (1.8 bcf) of gas per day in water depths of 950 metres, 400 kilometres from the shore.

Operating company Scarborough Joint Venture is comprised of Woodside Energy Scarborough with 73.5% shares and BHP Petroleum with 26.5% shares.

Final investment decision on the Scarborough project was announced in November 2021.
