Melbana Energy strikes oil in Cuba

HAVANA, February 7, 2022 – Melbana Energy has discovered evidence of oil in its drilling operations at the onshore Alameda-1 exploration well on the Block 9 concession licence in Cuba, the Australian E&P company announced today.

The well was drilled to 3,590 metres, with a potential producing reservoir detected for as much as 500 metres with high gas pressure.

Further wireline logging is needed to determine if the find is accurate.

The block was first spudded in September 2021 by a joint venture between Melbana Energy and Angolan E&P player <a href='https://theenergyyear.com/companies-institutions/sonangol/’>Sonangol Group.
