MHPSA bags US power plant deal

OMAHA, April 21, 2016 – Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Americas (MHPSA) has announced the award of a contract to fit the Tenaska Westmoreland power plant in Pennsylvania, currently under construction, with gas turbines and generators.

 

The contract, the value of which was not disclosed, will see MHPSA install two M501J turbines, each with a power generation capacity of 327 MW. Once completed, the gas-fired plant will have a power generation capacity of 925 MW.

On Tuesday, independent power developer Tenaska closed some USD 780 million in commercial financing for the project, which saw the involvement of such financial entities as BNP Parisbas, Citigroup Global Markets and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

The Tenaska Westmoreland power plant will be executed along with Diamond Generating Corporation, a Mitsubishi Corporation subsidiary, and engineering, procurement and construction contractor Black & Veatch. Construction, which began in early 2016, is scheduled for completion in 2018.
