Ministry to offer new Oman block in 2015

MUSCAT, January 20, 2015 – Oman will offer a production-sharing contract for one new block with oil and gas resources in 2015 the Times of Oman reported on Monday.

The nation has been trying to open up new exploration opportunities recently, at the same time as pursuing aggressive efforts to improve the recovery rates from producing blocks.

“Hopefully, we will award one oil block, which has both oil and gas deposits,” Ministry of Oil and Gas Director General of Petroleum Investment Saleh Ali Al Anboori told Times of Oman. He did not specify if the block was onshore or offshore but told TOGY in 2014, “We are particularly interested in inviting companies that possess up-to-date technology to unlock offshore oil and gas plays.”
