Muscat-Sohar pipeline starts up in Oman

MUSCAT, March 22, 2018 – Oman’s state refiner Orpic has inaugurated the Muscat-Sohar Product Pipeline, the company announced on Wednesday.

The USD 336-million project, which includes a state-of-the-art storage facility at Al Jifnain, is to help supply more than 50% of the country’s fuel needs, the statement added.

“We are proud to witness the inauguration of one of the three important strategic growth projects undertaken by Orpic,” said Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, the deputy chairman of Orpic and Oman’s central bank. “The project comes in response to the strategic objectives set by the government for developing oil products logistics solutions in the sultanate to meet the rapidly growing demand for fuels.”
