ABUJA, December 5, 2018 – A federal high court in Abuja, Nigeria, has ordered the arrest of former Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Alison-Madueke within 72 hours, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced on Tuesday.

“The inspector general of police, the chairman of the EFCC, the attorney general, the Department of State Services are hereby ordered in the name of the president, Federal Republic of Nigeria, to apprehend and arrest the first defendant and produce her before this court for further directives within 72 hours,” the judge wrote.

The EFCC confirmed in November that it was working to extradite the former minister from the UK.

Former Minister Alison-Madueke, who held office from 2011 to 2015, was charged with money laundering in absentia in April 2017. She also faces investigations in the UK and USA.
