NMDC Energy begins fabrication at new Ras Al Khair yard

DAMMAM, July 30, 2025 – NMDC Energy has cut first steel and commenced fabrication at its new Ras Al Khair yard in Saudi Arabia, marking the facility’s operational launch, the company announced on Tuesday.

The yard is located in the Ras Al Khair Special Economic Zone, where NMDC Energy is an anchor tenant. Spanning 400,000 square metres, it is equipped to support offshore and onshore projects, including modularisation and rigging, and has a nameplate production capacity is 40,000 tonnes per year.

NMDC Energy has invested around USD 54.5 million in the new facility, which is kicking off operations with an order for nine offshore jackets from Saudi Aramco, already in production.

More than 1,800 employees are being relocated from Abu Dhabi to staff the facility. As part of its industrial strategy and localisation efforts, NMDC Energy is targeting a 39% IKTVA [In-Kingdom Total Value Add] score by 2025 and 51% by 2028.

“This yard is a long-term investment in Saudi Arabia’s industrial infrastructure and a key pillar of our vision to support economic diversification, local capability, and regional energy transformation,” said NMDC Energy chairman Mohamed Hamad Almehairi.

Part of the NMDC Group, NMDC Energy provides engineering, procurement and construction services for the offshore and onshore oil and gas sectors. Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, the company operates primarily in the Gulf and Asia.
