NNPC doubles petrol supply in Nigeria

ABUJA, December 22, 2017 – The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has more than doubled the supply of petrol, locally known as premium motor spirit, the NOC announced Thursday.

The company is increasing daily supply from 27 million-30 million litres to 80 million liters, citing a “hiccup” in the supply chain.

Group managing director Maikanti Baru attributed the supply issues to rumours and hoarding. “But we swiftly swung into action by doubling our supply nationwide,” he said in a statement.

Earlier in the week the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria agreed to suspend a strike that had been expected to disrupt supply of petroleum products. In early December, NNPC denied a fuel shortage.
