Oman approves FDI in two solar projects

MUSCAT, March 6, 2023 – Oman has granted Oman Power and Water Procurement Company the rights to allow international investment in two solar power projects, the Authority for Public Services Regulation announced on Thursday.

The Manah 1 and Manah 2 projects will produce 500 MW each from more than 2 million solar panels, approximately 6.6% of total electricity generation in Oman planned by 2025.

Construction works are expected to begin in Q3 2023, with commercial operations set for 2025.

The developments will be located in Manah in the Al Dakhiliyah governorate on land of around 15-million square metres.

They are considered to be worth more than USD 775 million.

Oman intends to produce 30% of its electricity from renewables by 2030 and achieve net zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050.
