Oman’s PDO awards $4 billion in service contracts

Petroleum Development Oman, the Shell-Oman joint venture responsible for most of the country’s crude production, has awarded USD 4 billion in long-term service contracts.

The company announced the deal with Arabian Industries Projects and Special Technical Services (STS) last week. Their scope includes project delivery and maintenance and integrity work, including the design and execution of more than 200 projects.

The contracts will run for seven years with an optional three-year extension.

The projects will create “several thousand additional employment opportunities for Omanis, with a focus on skilled jobs, supervisors and engineering positions,” PDO said in a press release.

“These strategic agreements create a win-win culture for PDO, our partner contractors and Oman, in that they maximise capital efficiency, generate multi-million-dollar savings and enhance In-Country Value (ICV) opportunities,” PDO managing director Raoul Restucci said.

STS is a multidisciplinary contracting group specialising in construction, fabrication and maintenance services for the energy and industrial sectors.

Arabian Industries Projects provides integrated EPC and commissioning services to clients in the oil and gas, refinery, petrochemicals and power industries.
