Ophir hands out Fortuna FEED contracts

LONDON, July 9, 2015 – UK exploration company Ophir announced on Thursday that it awarded two front-end engineering and design contracts (FEED) for the Fortuna project off the coast of Equatorial Guinea. The Fortuna project is a floating liquefied natural gas project located in Block R.

Two consortiums consisting of engineering and construction company McDermott International and GE Oil & Gas and another with offshore energy company Subsea 7 and Norwegian Aker Solutions have won FEED contracts for the project’s subsea development design.

In order to reach the project’s first gas, which is estimated for the middle of 2019, the FEED work will identify the number of wells required, the development’s cost and the expected time of delivery for subsea items.

The consortia expect to finish the FEED work in the first quarter of 2016 and will submit bids for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning contracts.
