Perenco greenlights $1-bln LNG facility in Gabon

LIBREVILLE, February 17, 2023 – Perenco has taken its FID on developing a USD 1-billion LNG facility in Gabon, the French energy independent announced on Thursday.

The LNG facility will be located adjacent to the company’s oil terminal in Cape Lopez.

The project consists of building 215-kilometre pipelines and a 100-kilometre offshore line that will connect Batanga and Cape Lopez and four gas compression facilities with a combined capacity of 5.66 mcm (200 mcf) per day.

The asset has a planned capacity of 20,000 tonnes of LPG per year and 700,000 tonnes of LNG per year.

Feedstock for the project will initially be sourced from the onshore Ikassa Kongo and Mboukou 2 fields and the Iganga field at a later date.

The three fields are expected to supply 5.1 mcm (180 mcf) of gas per day.

By 2030 gas is expected to be sourced from the Diga and Iganga fields.

The company has mobilised an oil tanker with a capacity to store 2 million barrels to connect the terminals throughout the construction phase.
