Pertamina starts operations at Ogan Komering

JAKARTA, May 21, 2018 – Pertamina has started operations at the Ogan Komering field under a new PSC signed with the Indonesian government following the expiration of the old licence earlier this year, local media reported on Monday.

Apart from the South Sumatra field, the Indonesian NOC also signed a PSC for the Tuban field in East Java, the Jakarta Post reported.

“The operations of the Ogan Komering and Tuban fields are one of our strategies to ensure the sufficiency of national oil and gas production,” Gunung Sardjono Hadi, president-director of Pertamina subsidiary PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, which operates the fields, told the newspaper.

In a statement to the London Stock Exchange on Monday, Pertamina’s former partner in the Ogan Komering licence, Jadestone Energy, said it was hoping to farm into the new gross-split PSC.

“I look forward to continuing the development of the Ogan Komering asset as a joint venture partner of choice with Pertamina, and fully support the operator’s plans for appraisal drilling of the existing gas discoveries during 2019,” said Paul Blakeley, Jadestone’s president and CEO.

“Together with Pertamina, we can add significant value in Ogan Komering through early development of the Jantung Baru and North Meraksa discoveries, together with ongoing well interventions and infill drilling on the existing producing fields.”
