Egypt gas well beats expectations
LONDON, May 18, 2018 – The Ibn Yunus-1X well in Egypt, which struck 31 metres of gas pay last month, has “exceeded initial expectations,” operator SDX Energy announced on Friday.
The well, located in the South Disouq onshore licence, tested at 1.11 mcm (39.3 mcf) per day on a 32/64-inch choke, the company reported in a statement.
“The flow test from Ibn Yunus-1X is a very positive outcome which has exceeded our expectations and is a strong endorsement of the significant potential of the licence,” said CEO Paul Welch. “We remain optimistic about further positive news flow as we move towards delivering first gas from the licence before the end of 2018.”
