Peru

LIMA, June 23, 2016 – President-elect Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, who won the the country’s presidential elections earlier this month, was summoned by the Peruvian anti-corruption body on Wednesday to appear for a hearing as part of Operation Car Wash, the wide-ranging Brazilian corruption case that has implicated politicians and top-level oil and gas industry executives.

Kuczynski will be asked about his role in a highway construction project between Brazil and Peru, and for having promulgated a bill as head of the Minsters’ Council that allegedly favoured Odebrecht, a Brazilian contractor whose CEO, Marcelo Odebrecht, was sentenced to 19 years in prison for having bribed Petrobras executives.
