Petrobras CEO gets nod

RIO DE JANEIRO, March 27, 2017 – Perdo Parente will stay on for another two years as CEO of Petrobras, the company said in a Monday securities filing.

Parente succeeded Aldemir Bendine in May 2016 and oversaw the company’s return to the road of recovery.

Petrobras ended 2016 with a quarterly profit of USD 717 million, the NOC said last week, overturning a loss of more than USD 11 billion during the same period in 2015.

Losses came out at USD 4.8 billion for the whole of 2016, a marked improvement over the USD 11.3 billion in losses registered over the preceding year.

Parente’s new term began on Sunday.
