Petrochemicals complex gets go ahead

MALABO, August 13, 2014 – The government of Equatorial Guinea has announced its plans to establish an integrated petrochemicals complex in Riaba on Bioko Island.

In May, the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy signed a gas sales agreement with the group of producers at blocks O and I comprising Noble Energy, Atlas Petroleum International, Glencore Exploration, Osborne Resources and GEPetrol for feedstock for the plant. The agreement provides for dedicated gas supply for feedstock and to power an onsite generation plant.

“The petrochemical complex … will reshape the petrochemical market dynamics in the region,” said Minister of Mines, Industry and Energy Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima.
