China
Petrochina has encountered significant amounts of shale gas in the Huangguashan block in southwestern China, international media reported late on Thursday.

The company, a subsidiary of NOC China National Petroleum Corporation, has drilled “a number of wells” which confirmed the presence of “a major shale gas discovery,” Upstream Online reported.

PetroChina and partner Sinopec plan to drill about 30 production wells in 13 well pads in the area, the report added.
