Petrofac wins Oman deals worth $300 million

MUSCAT, February 4, 2021 – Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has awarded Petrofac a pair of new contracts worth USD 300 million, the UK-listed engineering and construction player said on Thursday.

Under one contract, Petrofac will provide EPCC, start-up and initial operational support at the Marmul Main Production Station (MMPS). The MMPS project is designed to eliminate permanent flaring and deal with associated gas at oilfields in an area 800 kilometres south of Muscat.

Under a second contract, the company will undertake various engineering and project support works at selected PDO concession areas in the north of Oman for PDO main contractor Arabian Industries Projects.

Petrofac has long provided EPC and EPCM services for Oman energy projects such as BP’s Ghazeer gasfield, Orpic’s Sohar Refinery and PDO’s Rabab Harweel Integrated Project.

Shell-Oman joint venture PDO is the country’s largest producer, accounting for most of its crude oil production and natural gas supply.
