Petronas pumps up Bukit Tua phase three

JAKARTA, October 23, 2017 – Petronas will move forward with phase three of the Bukit Tua development offshore Indonesia, the Malaysian NOC announced on Friday.

Formally titled Bukit Tua phase 3A, the three-well development plan is expected to begin production in mid-2019.

It is one of several development components in play to produce resources from the Bukit Tua field, part of the Ketapang PSC. While the tentative deadline for the field’s final development phase is July 2022, a platform associated with phase 2 of the project is scheduled to come online in 2021. Phase 3B will involve the drilling of five additional development wells at the Kujung horizon. Finally, at the end of 2017, SKK Migas will drill two infill wells at the Bukit Tua’s carbonate play.

With an 80% stake in the asset, Petronas’ activity at the field is part of the state-owned hydrocarbons company’s drive to bolster E&P assets through farm-ins and joint-research endeavours.
