QatarEnergy inks EPC contract for its North field

DOHA, August 25, 2023 – Técnicas Reunidas has signed a USD 560-million EPC contract with NOC QatarEnergy for continued works on Qatar’s North Field South project, the Spanish engineering and construction company announced on Wednesday.

The works include engineering, purchasing, construction and start-up of pipelines, interconnections, auxiliary systems and other support components for off-plot LNG facilities.

These include boil-off gas and public services pipes connecting the southern area of ​​the Industrial City of Ras Laffan with new storage tanks and export facilities in the northern area of the project.

 

The contract also includes commissioning new LNG tanks, LNG loading docks and boil-off-gas compressors and associated equipment.

The award is Técnicas Reunidas’ fourth contract with QatarEnergy in the last 24 months.

Qatar’s North Field is located in in the northeast of the country’s peninsula. It is the world’s largest gasfield and contains around 10% of the globe’s known gas reserves.

QatarEnergy is currently developing two expansion phases at the field with investments of more than USD 50 billion with hopes to boost the country’s LNG capacity from 77 million tonnes per year to 100 million tonnes per year by around 2026 or 2027.
