Range Resources strikes pay

FORTH WORTH, January 4, 2017 – Range Resources found prospective resources at its GY 681 well on the Beach Marcelle field in Trinidad, the British E&P company announced on Tuesday.

The operation found pay at 1,340 metres, higher than the expected 1,372 metres, which allowed the company to save on drilling costs. The well was the last foray into the company’s 2016 drilling programme.

“The initial log evaluations on the well are encouraging with an estimated net pay of approximately 150 feet [45.7 metres] in the Lower Gros Morne sand and an additional 80 feet [24.4 metres] in the upper zone of the well,” the company announced.

Production testing is expected to start in early January.

In related news, LGO Energy on Wednesday announced that it had contracted two drilling firms for work programmes in the Goudron field, one of them being Trinidad’s Sadhna. The latter will execute the H18E G11 well, which will be drilled to 381 metres. UK-based Bedrock Drilling will carry out drilling work on another well, H18E N4.
