Range spuds Trinidad well

PORT OF SPAIN, September 7, 2015 – The US exploration and production company Range Resources has spudded the first of a 22-well development in its Trinidad holdings, the company announced in a Monday press release.

Range Resources on Friday spudded well MD 42N, which lies in the Morne Diablo field. The well will be drilled to 951 metres, and the company estimates 72,000 barrels of oil in recoverable reserves.

An additional three wells are scheduled to be spudded this year. The company said it expects three more drilling rigs to arrive in Trinidad this month.

Range Resources is the largest private onshore holder in Trinidad, and its wells there are currently producing about 570 barrels of oil per day. Range acquired operating licences in 2011 for the Morne Diablo, South Quarry and Beach Marcelle oilfields to enter the Trinidad market.
