Repsol finds oil in Indonesia

JAKARTA, August 30, 2017 – Repsol has hit oil in the East Jabung PSC, international media reported Wednesday.

The AYU-1X exploration well reached a total depth of 1,140 metres and showed about 5.5 metres of net oil pay. The well also displayed signs of oil and gas in Gumai age sands, Repsol’s PSC partner Pan Orient Energy said in a statement.

The partners plan to start drilling the ELOK-1X sidetrack well from AYU-1X immediately, targeting a potential thick apron of Lower Talang Akar sandstones located 700 metres south of AYU-1X. The sidetrack is expected to be completed in a month.

Repsol is the operator of the East Jabung PSC with a 51% stake, while Pan Orient holds 49%.
