Saipem awarded offshore works in Guyana and Egypt

Saipem has been awarded two offshore engineering contracts in Guyana and Egypt for a combined value of USD 1.2 billion, the Italian engineering and technology company announced on Thursday.

The first contract was awarded by ExxonMobil for its Uaru oilfield project in Guyana.

Works include the design, fabrication and installation of subsea structures, risers, flowlines and umbilicals for the subsea production facility.

The Uaru project is located in the Stabroek block in water depths of around 2,000 metres. The field will be tied back to an FPSO supplied by Modec. First oil is expected in 2026.

Saipem was previously awarded four subsea contracts by ExxonMobil in Guyana for the first and second phases of the completed Liza project and the Payara and Yellowtail developments, both of which are under development.

The second contract is with Belayim Petroleum Company, a subsidiary of Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, for works on the offshore Zohr project.

The contract’s scope includes the transportation, installation and pre-commissioning of 170 kilometres of umbilicals that will connect the central control platform and subsea field with the existing subsea production systems. Works are expected to begin in Q3 2023.
