Saipem wins Saudi gas compression project
DHAHRAN, June 11, 2026 – Saipem has secured a contract for the Uthmaniyah Gas Compression Plant project in Saudi Arabia through its jointly controlled company SNSH, Saipem said on Wednesday.
The 42-month contract covers EPC activities for a new compression plant serving the Uthmaniyah non-associated gasfield, aimed at extending the field’s production life and helping meet rising energy demand in Saudi Arabia. Saipem’s share of the contract is valued at approximately EUR 900 million.
SNSH is a venture between Saipem and Saudi industrial contractor Nasser Saeed Al Hajri and Partners Company for Contracting (NSH). The project award is the first EPC award under Saudi Arabia’s National EPC Champion Program, which aims to develop local EPC capabilities and maximise the use of domestic expertise and resources.
Aramco’s Uthmaniyah Gas Compression Plant is in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, about 177 kilometres southwest of Dhahran, and is one of the company’s largest. It was commissioned in 1981 to process associated gas from oil wells.
Saipem is an Italy-based engineering and construction company that provides services for energy and infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia and globally. The company specialises in offshore and onshore EPC projects, drilling services and technology.
