Savannah finds 14 drilling prospects in Niger
Niger NIAMEY, May 14, 2015 – Savannah Petroleum has identified 14 drill-ready prospects in its onshore acreage in southeastern Niger through an analysis of 3D-seismic data, the UK-headquartered company announced on Thursday.
Savannah estimated the total gross unrisked mean prospective oil resources in the areas identified at about 215 million barrels in the Eocene and Upper Cretaceous horizons.
The company said the analysis of its 8,406-square-kilometre R1/R2 licence area had integrated existing data from the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum with 36,949 kilometres of full tensor gravity gradiometry data the company commissioned in November 2014.
Savannah added that it had located 37 exploration leads along the northwest and northeast portions of the licence area.
The R1/R2 licence area consists of around 30 percent of the Agadem licence area relinquished by the China National Petroleum Company in 2013. Savannah Petroleum signed the production-sharing contract for the area in July 2014.
