SBM Offshore to build Liza’s second FPSO

AMSTERDAM, July 3, 2018 – ExxonMobil has awarded SBM Offshore a contract of unspecified value to build and operate the second FPSO at the Liza field offshore Guyana, the Dutch marine services company announced on Tuesday.

SBM Offshore will use its Fast4Ward design for the floater, and anticipates transferring its ownership and operation to ExxonMobil within two years, the press release added. The FPSO’s capacity is planned at 220,000 bopd, along with a gas treatment capacity of 11.3 mcm (400 mcf) per day.

“The successful team work with our client ExxonMobil on the FPSO Liza Destiny project provided a solid foundation for this award,” said SBM Offshore’s CEO Bruno Chabas.

“This project will be adding further traction to SBM Offshore’s Fast4Ward programme as its design is incorporating our multipurpose hull and a number of standardised modules. We look forward to continuing to build on our close collaboration with ExxonMobil in order to also make this project a success.”
