Schlumberger rebrands as SLB

USA

HOUSTON, October 27, 2022 – Schlumberger has rebranded as SLB as it transitions towards decarbonising the energy industry, the global technology provider announced on Monday.

This is to highlight its shift in focus from oilfield services to providing low-carbon innovations.

In 2020, the company launched its New Energy segment to explore low-carbon and carbon-neutral technologies.

In 2021, SLB became the first energy services company to commit to a net-zero target of Scope 3 emissions. The company aims to have net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The company has recently unveiled several decarbonizing innovations, including its Zero-Flaring Well Test and Cleanup technique, which has so far been used to reduce around 80,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

In 2022, the technology provider launched its SLB End-to-end Emissions Solutions business to eliminate methane emissions in oil and gas operations.

“Today we face the world’s greatest balancing act—providing reliable, accessible and affordable energy to meet growing demand, while rapidly decarbonising for a sustainable future,” said Olivier Le Peuch, CEO of SLB.

“Our new identity symbolizes SLB’s commitment to moving farther and faster in facilitating the world’s energy needs today and forging the road ahead for the energy transition.”

The transition includes updating the company’s logo and new tagline, “For a balanced planet.”
