Sembcorp Marine to design first zero-emission tanker

OSLO, December 3, 2021 – Sembcorp Marine has signed a contract with Norway’s Grieg Edge to build the world’s first zero-emissions tanker, the Singaporean offshore engineering company announced on Friday.

 

The MS Green Ammonia tanker will distribute green ammonia from a production facility in Berlevåg to Svalbard, Norway, from 2024, replacing coal-fired vessels.

Green ammonia is derived from water electrolysis powered by renewable sources.
