Shell Nigeria delays Bonga Southwest FID

LAGOS, August 1, 2018 – Shell will make its final investment decision on the Bonga Southwest project in 2019, a senior company official told the media Tuesday.

The managing director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production, Bayo Ojuli, said production costs at the development were projected to be USD 50 per barrel, Vanguard reported. The company expects PSC negotiations with the government to conclude this year.

Bonga South West is an oilfield offshore Nigeria, covering 60 square kilometres and located 120 kilometres southwest of the Niger Delta in water depths greater than 1,000 metres. It was discovered in 2001, approximately 10 kilometres southwest of the producing Bonga field, which was discovered in 1996.

Shell operates the project with partners ExxonMobil, Total, Eni and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
