SLB secures three Petrobras offshore contracts

HOUSTON, April 16, 2024 – SLB has been awarded three contracts by Petrobras for completion hardware and services for up to 35 subsea wells in the offshore Buzios Wave II oilfield, SLB announced on Monday.

The scope of the contract includes SLB’s full-bore electric interval control valves and electric subsurface safety valves and is a step towards full electrification of offshore production systems for Petrobras.

The value of the contracts was not provided.

“By leveraging the electrification and digitalisation of completions from SLB, Petrobras will increase its field recovery efficiency in complex and challenging pre-salt reservoirs,” said Steve Gassen, SLB’s president of production systems.

On March 15, Petrobras announced that the Buzios field had reached 1 billion barrels of oil produced. With the production systems to be installed over the next few years, Petrobras expects the field’s capacity will rise to around 2 million bopd by 2030.
