Subsea7 wins “large” contract offshore Mexico

Subsea7 has won a contract from Woodside Energy to provide subsea installation services for the Trion field, Mexico’s first deepwater development, Subsea7 said on Thursday.

Details on the contract value and timeline were not made public.

The Trion field, under development by Woodside and Pemex, is located around 180 kilometres from the Mexican coastline in water depths of around 2,500 metres.

The USD 7.2-billion project will involve an FPU with a production capacity of 100,000 bopd connected to an FSO vessel with a capacity of 950,000 bopd. First oil is expected in 2028.

Up to 24 wells are planned in the project’s life cycle, with 18 planned in the initial phase.

In February, the project won approval for its social impact assessment.
