Technip bags Azerbaijan services deal

BAKU, January 4, 2017 – On Wednesday, Technip announced it had received a services contract by SOCAR GPC for cryomax and ethylene technology licenses for the Oil and Gas Processing and Petrochemical Complex (OGPC) project.

 

The cryomax and ethylene licences apply to the project’s gas processing and petrochemical plants, respectively. The company also received an engineering design contract for all of the plants’ process units and associated utilities and off-site facilities.

On December 20, 2016, SOCAR signed technology licenses agreements for the OGPC project with Technip, Univation, Axens, and SinopecTech. During the meeting, it was announced that the project will be financed as part of China’s Silk Road Economic Belt project. Engineering, design and construction works for the project are to be implemented by the China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Corporation (HQC), according to local media.

One month prior, Technip landed a SOCAR engineering, procurement and services contract the Azerikimya facility near Sumgait. Technip will overhaul the facility’s stream cracker and build new cracker furnaces. The French engineering giant will also install a new refinery dry gas treatment unit, increase ethylene and propylene storage capacity and build off sites.
