Total Eren enters Honduras with wind project

Honduras

TEGUCIGALPA, February 16, 2023 – Total Eren has signed an agreement to develop a 112-MW wind project in Honduras, the French renewable energy independent announced on Wednesday.

The company signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with Honduran national electricity company Empresa Nacional de Energía Eléctrica and San Marcos Wind Energy, the entity in charge of the development.

The development will be located in both the Choluteca and Francisco Morazán departments and involve 95 kilometres of 230-kV transmission lines, a new 230-kV substation and reinforcement works at two existing substations.

The San Marcos project will generate 500 GWh per year, which will cover the energy demand for 460,000 residents.

Total Eren purchased 100% shares in San Marcos Wind Energy in March 2022.

In addition to the San Marcos development, Total Eren has 670 MW of operating solar and wind assets in Latin America, including Brazil, Chile and Argentina. The company also has 120 MW worth of projects under construction in the Dominican Republic.
