Total Gabon oil workers strike

LIBREVILLE, July 9, 2018 – ONEP has begun a 15-day strike at Total’s facilities in Gabon, the oil workers union announced on Monday.

“The 15-day strike will affect all installations operated by Total Gabon’s employees as of Monday July 9th,” Reuters quoted the group as saying.

ONEP had threatened a strike in June after demanding higher pay, bonuses, opportunities for promotion and increased local content. Labour minister Arnold Engandji invited the parties to negotiate last week but no agreement was reached.

Total Gabon has been active in Gabon for more than 85 years and currently operates several licences, including the Anguille field.
