IEnova bags USD 150-mln fuels project in Mexico

MEXICO CITY, July 10, 2018 – Mexican energy infrastructure developer IEnova will develop, build and operate a liquid fuels marine terminal in Sinaloa state, parent company Sempra Energy announced on Monday.
The Topolobampo Port Administration awarded IEnova the 20-year contract, and plans for the USD 150-million terminal to have a storage capacity of 1 million barrels of petrol and diesel, with operations starting in Q4 2020. The marine facility will also be equipped with fuel reception and dispatch infrastructure.
“The Topolobampo project will facilitate access to additional international fuel supplies and help meet growing demand in Mexico,” Joseph A. Householder, Sempra Energy president and COO, said in a company press release.
IEnova’s responsibilities for the terminal will include financing, obtaining customer contracts and permits, EPC and maintenance and operations, according to the press release.
The company was previously awarded a contract in April 2018 to develop, build and operate the Baja Refinados marine terminal at the La Jovita Energy Hub near Ensenada, and a contract in July 2017 to construct a marine hydrocarbons terminal at the Port of Veracruz.
