Total in major gas discovery offshore UK

PARIS, September 24, 2018 – Total has made a major gas find in Block 206/04a offshore the UK, the super-major announced on Monday.

The Glendronach prospect, operated by Total (60% interest), contains about 28.3 bcm (1 tcf) of gas, the French company said in a press release. Total’s partners there are Ineos E&P and SSE E&P (20% interest each).

“Glendronach is a significant discovery for Total which gives us access to additional gas resources in one of our core areas and validates our exploration strategy,” said Arnaud Breuillac, Total’s president for E&P. “Located on an emerging play of the prolific West of Shetland area, the discovery can be commercialised quickly and at low cost by leveraging the existing Laggan-Tormore infrastructure.”
