Singapore

SINGAPORE, July 3, 2015 – French super-major Total has opened its largest lubricant oil plant, located in Singapore.

The company aims to double its Asian market share for lubricants by 2025, increasing production from around 500,000 tonnes to 1 million tonnes per year.

The plant, with a yearly capacity of 310,000 tonnes, is located in Singapore’s western industrial region at Tuas.

The facility will produce lubricants used for vehicles, ships and industrial purposes. It is scheduled to replace two plants with a combined capacity of 180,000 tonnes per year.

The company’s vice-president for lubricants marketing and services in the Asia-Pacific region told reporters that Asian demand for lubricants is growing by 1.7 percent per year.

Total has a 5-percent market share in the global supply of lubricant oils, the company said.
