TotalEnergies, Bapco Energies launch Bahrain trading venture
MANAMA, January 14, 2026 – TotalEnergies and Bapco Energies have established BxT Trading, a joint venture for petroleum products trading in Bahrain and the wider Middle East, the company said on Monday.
The 50-50 venture will be supported by output from Bapco Energies’ refinery and will benefit from TotalEnergies’ global trading expertise. It aims to develop pricing, risk management and analytical capabilities while enhancing access to international markets.
“This partnership with TotalEnergies strengthens our downstream value chain and reinforces Bahrain’s position as a competitive and trusted player in the international energy markets,” Bapco Energies chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa said.
The move also bolsters TotalEnergies’ trading presence in the Middle East, complementing its existing operations in Geneva, Houston and Singapore.
Bapco Energies operates the Sitra refinery, Bahrain’s core downstream asset. It currently processes around 267,000 bpd of crude and is undergoing a major upgrade under the Bapco Modernization Program to boost capacity to 380,000 bpd and improve product quality and energy efficiency.
TotalEnergies’ operations in the Middle East include upstream and downstream oil and gas activities, trading, and renewable energy initiatives across several Gulf countries.
