TotalEnergies begins production from Begonia and CLOV Phase 3 in Angola
LUANDA, July 23, 2025 – TotalEnergies has commenced production from its Begonia and CLOV Phase 3 projects in Angola’s blocks 17 and 17/06 with a combined output target of 60,000 bpd, the company said on Wednesday.
The developments utilise spare processing capacity on the Pazflor and Clov FPSOs to bring new reserves on stream in the core of TotalEnergies’ Angolan portfolio.
Located in Block 17/06, Begonia is a five-well subsea satellite that marks Angola’s first inter-block development, routing output to the Pazflor FPSO in Block 17. CLOV Phase 3, a four-well subsea tieback, is the latest extension of the producing CLOV hub. Both are expected to contribute 30,000 bpd each.
“These are low-cost and low-emissions developments that support our strategy to grow upstream production by more than 3% in 2025,” E&P president Nicolas Terraz said.
Paulino Jeronimo, chairman of Angola’s upstream regulator of the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency, welcomed the milestone. “Projects like these are extremely important as they prove the innovative spirit and dynamism of the oil sector in Angola,” he said.
These developments will help maintain Angola’s daily oil production above 1 million bpd, a key government objective.
