TotalEnergies restarts production at Mabruk oilfield in Libya

TRIPOLI, March 12, 2026 – otalEnergies has restarted production at the Mabruk oilfield in Libya, the company announced on Thursday.
Mabruk is an onshore oilfield located in concession C17, approximately 130 kilometres south of the town of Sirte. Production resumed on February 28, 2026, less than two years after TotalEnergies launched the construction of a 25,000-bopd processing unit at the site in May 2024. The field had not been producing since 2015.
“This project, which follows TotalEnergies’ recent announcements regarding the extension of the Waha concessions, brings low-cost, low-emissions oil production in line with the Company’s strategy, and contributes to our objective of 3% annual production growth per year until 2030,” said Julien Pouget, Middle East and North Africa Director for TotalEnergies’ E&P business.
In January 2026, TotalEnergies signed an agreement to extend the Waha oil concessions, in which it holds a 20.42% interest, until 2050. Production at the concessions stands at 370,000 boepd and is expected to increase by an additional 100,000 boepd through the development of the North Gialo field.
TotalEnergies has operated in Libya since 1956 and produced an average of 113,000 boepd in the country in 2025. Its output comes from the offshore Al Jurf field and onshore assets in El Sharara and Mabruk, as well as the onshore Waha concessions, which are operated by Waha Oil Company with Libya’s National Oil Corporation, TotalEnergies and ConocoPhillips as partners.
