USA

HOUSTON, July 29, 2021 – Transocean has signed two contracts with US majors for deepwater drillships in the Gulf of Mexico, the company announced on Wednesday.

The first is a one-well contract worth USD 28.5 million. The Deepwater Conqueror is contracted to work 85 days.

The Deepwater Conqueror is a dual-activity drillship commissioned in 2016 that is currently closing works with Chevron due to finish in December 2021.

The second contract worth USD 27 million is for Transocean’s Deepwater Asgard. Works on the single well will take approximately 90 days with USD 40,000 per day paid for managed pressure drilling services.

The Deepwater Asgard was built in 2014 and will suspend works with Beacon Offshore Energy in October 2021.

Both contracts are expected to start in Q1 2022. The operators were not mentioned in the press release.
