Transocean wins $232-million BP contract in Gulf of Mexico
HOUSTON, September 11, 2024 – Transocean has been awarded a USD 232-million contract from BP for the Deepwater Atlas drillship to carry out works in the US Gulf of Mexico, the company said on Wednesday.
The one-year contract sees works commencing in Q2 2028.
Details on the drilling campaign were not provided, but BP’s activities in the area are focused around five operated hubs: Atlantis, Mad Dog, Na Kika, Thunder Horse and Argos. The Argos project involves a USD 9-billion investment and is a centrepiece of the company’s US Gulf operations.
Its next wave of projects include Kaskida and Tiber.
The Deepwater Atlas is an ultra-deepwater drillship capable of drilling in water depths of 12,000 feet.
