Twin blasts hit Ecopetrol pipeline

BOGOTA, February 10, 2016 – The Caño Limón-Coveñas pipeline in Colombia was the target of twin bombings on Monday, state-run Ecopetrol disclosed on Wednesday.

The separate blasts, in Arauca and Boyaca provinces, respectively, forced the company to take the conduit offline. The 780-kilometre pipeline is run by Ecopetrol and transports crude for US major Occidental Petroleum.

The line, which transports some 210,000 bopd, had previously been the target of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. Attacks in 2015 left 32 people dead. No casualties were reported this week, nor has Ecopetrol made any statements regarding the possible perpetrators.
